A challenge means to stimulate, face up to, confront, a push to go higher or deeper. It has been said that difficulties often bring us to our knees, and here meaning bringing us to prayer. A challenging condition calls for a deepening of connection to the Divine. Facing and meeting a challenge can actually be a source of spiritual renewal, by moving you to claim and direct your divine power.
I want to talk about one of the early women of New Thought, Malinda Cramer, and what we can learn from her experience of a spiritual renewal through challenging conditions. Malinda, along with the Brooks sisters, created Divine Science, a forerunner of Religious Science.
“If you have grasped the simple truth that a positive statement can neutralize a negative one, then begin by making the positive statement in simplicity and complete faith.”
~ Ernest Holmes, This Thing Called You
“Every person is surrounded by a thought atmosphere. This mental atmosphere is the direct result of thought which in its turn becomes the direct reason for the cause of that which comes into our lives. Through this power we are either attracting or repelling.”
